Belvidere Park District Rivers Edge Recreation Center
The Park District’s New Activity Center was designed to fit well on its site as reflected in the facilities name, Rivers Edge. The view of the building facing the river boasts a 2-story space with floor to ceiling windows. With the number of windows in the facility, all rooms have a view of the landscaped park that the building sits in.
Additional spaces in the new activity center include two program rooms on the upper level and two multi-purpose rooms on the lower level. Each of these 900-square foot rooms has moveable partition walls to provide for a 1,800-square foot group gathering space when needed. A Serving Kitchen is located on the upper level and is connected to the multi-purpose rooms for rentals. The Gymnasium has full-size bleachers with a curtain to divide the space. The rubber floor is ideal for multi-purpose use. The Climbing Wall is 35 feet high and aesthetically has the look and feel or real rocks. There are routes for all levels of climbers. The building has eight restrooms and two locker rooms, workrooms and storage.
